Director Mohamed Diab has apologized to actor Hesham Maged after his recent comments about the series “Ashghal Shaqa” sparked controversy across social media, stressing that their relationship is based on friendship and brotherhood and that his words were meant as a joke.

In a video shared on his personal account, Diab explained that he tried to speak in a humorous way but failed to deliver the joke properly in front of cameras, which led to misunderstanding and public reaction.

He said that he and Hesham usually joke privately, but bringing that tone to television was a mistake, admitting it was a “poor attempt to be funny” that did not reflect his true feelings.

Diab also praised Hesham Maged, describing him as a talented actor and a great person with a career spanning more than 15 years, adding that “Ashghal Shaqa” would not have had the same impact without him.

The controversy began after Diab jokingly said that Hesham “was nothing before Ashghal Shaqa,” a remark that many fans considered unfair to Maged’s long career, prompting Diab to clarify and apologize publicly.

The series “Ashghal Shaqa 2” continues the success of the first season, presenting a social comedy about a married couple facing daily challenges in a light and entertaining style.
