Minister of Youth and Sports Checks on Feryal Ashraf After Injury at Karate 1 Premier League in Egypt
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, made a phone call to check on Egyptian karate champion Feryal Ashraf, a member of the national karate team, after she sustained an injury during her participation in the ongoing Karate 1 Premier League held in Egypt.
Feryal was immediately transferred to the hospital following the incident. Medical examinations revealed that she had suffered a pelvic contusion. She was later discharged to continue her recovery and rest at home.
During the call, Minister Sobhi expressed his deep concern for the health of all Egyptian athletes, stressing the importance of providing comprehensive care and support to ensure their well-being and to maintain a safe sports environment worthy of Egypt’s champions. He also affirmed that the Ministry constantly monitors the performance of national teams in all competitions and gives special attention to athletes representing Egypt on the international stage.
Captain Mourad Asem, Head of Egypt’s National Karate Teams, stated that Feryal’s injury occurred during one of the matches and that she will be unable to continue in the competition due to the need for a recovery period as advised by medical reports. He confirmed that the technical and medical staff are closely following her case to ensure a swift recovery and strong return to future competitions.
The Karate 1 Premier League currently being held in Cairo is witnessing strong participation from 67 countries, with a total of 384 male and female athletes. The tournament is receiving significant official and sporting attention, with the President of the World Karate Federation attending the first day of the competition alongside the Egyptian Karate Federation Board, headed by Mohamed El-Dahrawy.
Egypt’s national team in the tournament features some of the country’s top karatekas, including Abdullah Mamdouh, Abdullah Hesham, Amr Alaa, Ziad Ali, Youssef Emad, Adam El-Leithy, Ali El-Sawy, Taha Tarek, Al-Hassan Mohamed, Hazem Mohamed, Adel Amara, and Omar Ashraf. They are all aiming to achieve honorable results and raise the Egyptian flag high at this prestigious international event.
