Actor Morad Makram shared an awareness message with his followers highlighting the ethical responsibility of dog ownership, stressing the importance of making informed choices and committing to proper care.

Makram encouraged the adoption of local mixed-breed dogs, praising their intelligence, loyalty, kindness, and resilience, noting their strong adaptation to the local environment and lower susceptibility to disease. He also shed light on a rare native breed known as the Arment Dog, or the Egyptian Shepherd, a purely Egyptian breed historically used for guarding and herding.

He explained that the Arment breed is known for its strength, intelligence, and deep loyalty to its owner, and warned that it is on the verge of extinction, surviving mainly due to the efforts of a small group of dedicated breeders in its original hometown of Armant in Upper Egypt.

In a separate development, competent authorities have begun examining a complaint filed by Morad Makram against two individuals accused of defaming him through social media posts. Makram officially reported being targeted and insulted online, requesting legal action against the responsible accounts.

A report was filed, investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident, and the case has been referred to the public prosecution for further inquiry.

From a legal perspective, criminal law treats defamation as a serious offense. To establish defamation, it must be proven that the defendant published the content, that it concerned the complainant, and that it included harmful statements affecting reputation.

Penalties may be intensified in certain cases, including:

• Defamation of public officials due to their professional duties.

• Use of personal or family information in the defamatory content.

• Defamation through advertising or published materials.

In such cases, penalties may include imprisonment of up to six months, in addition to financial fines, depending on the circumstances and method of publication.
