Nabila Ebeid in an emotional plea: "The apartment of my life is in danger… if they evict me, I might die
Nabila Ebeid appeals after the amendment of the old rent law: "My apartment holds my history and memories… if they evict me, I might die."
Veteran actress Nabila Ebeid has expressed deep shock and profound sorrow following the Egyptian Parliament’s approval of amendments to the Old Rent Law, which includes rental units leased before 1996. She emphasized that the new law threatens her current apartment, which for her is far more than just a place to live.
Ebeid pointed out that her apartment, located on Gamaet El-Dowal El-Arabiya Street, holds all the milestones of her artistic life. She said:
"This isn’t just any apartment… it holds everything that matters to me — my awards, my history, and every detail of my journey. I started my career here; the song 'Qari’at Al-Finjan' came out of this place; it hosted the most important meetings of my life."
With tears in her eyes, she added:
"If they take this apartment from me, I might die… They can take my late mother's apartment, or my office — but not this one. I filmed everything here; this place brought me luck. It has my essence in it."
Nabila Ebeid called for urgent intervention from relevant authorities, addressing an appeal to Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henni, Actors’ Syndicate Head Dr. Ashraf Zaki, Cinema Syndicate Head Mossad Fouda, and the Federation of Artistic Syndicates. She stressed that the apartment holds significant artistic and historical value, and must be preserved as part of Egypt’s cultural memory.
The iconic actress also expressed her wish to transform the apartment into a small museum or artistic landmark, where fans can one day visit and explore her long and impactful artistic career. The apartment, she said, houses all her original memorabilia.
On a different note, Nabila Ebeid’s last on-screen appearance was in the 2020 Ramadan TV series "Sokkar Zeyada", a comedy-drama that featured a lineup of legendary actresses including Nadia El-Gendy, Samia Ayoub, and Hala Fakher. The show also welcomed several guest stars such as Ahmed Fahmy, Rogena, Mostafa Abu Saree’, Bayoumi Fouad, and Hanady Mehanna.
Actress Caroline Azmy attracted widespread attention after sharing a unique beach photo of herself holding a small lion cub, sparking strong interaction among her followers on social media while continuing her recent artistic success.
Actress Yasmine El Abd will appear as a guest on Ahmed Mourad’s “Beit Mourad” program, where she will discuss her acting career and upcoming projects.
“Saqr W Kanarya” has achieved a clear lead over “Shamshon W Dalila” in ticket revenues across several Egyptian cinemas, continuing its strong performance at the box office.
Elissa has brought back her album “Ana Saktin” to her official YouTube channel after more than a year of absence due to a legal and production dispute over digital rights.
