The Egyptian General Book Authority has released a new book, “New Asia” by Mohamed Ibrahim El-Desouki, analyzing major geopolitical shifts in Asia and the continent’s rising role in shaping the new global order.
The Egyptian General Book Authority has announced the release of “New Asia”, authored by Mohamed Ibrahim El-Desouki, offering an in-depth analysis of Asia’s evolving geopolitical landscape and its growing influence on the 21st-century global order.
The book highlights what the author terms “New Asia”, amid China’s strategic efforts to shift the center of political and cultural gravity from the West to Asia, leveraging its economic power, population, and belief in its rightful leadership role in the new global order.
It examines the intense rivalry between the United States and China as a decisive factor reshaping alliances within the continent, showing how some Asian countries are abandoning previous neutrality and moving toward strategic partnerships, especially with the United States and Western powers, including Australia and several Pacific and Indian Ocean nations.
The book also analyzes the roles of key Asian nations:
-
Japan: The world’s third-largest economy, undergoing significant shifts in security policy and military doctrine.
-
South Korea: Strengthening its position as a regional and global power, relying on economic strength, soft power tools, and addressing North Korea’s nuclear threats.
-
India: Recalibrating foreign and security policies to safeguard strategic interests against China and Pakistan while leveraging its global diaspora.
Finally, “New Asia” provides a forward-looking perspective on the continent’s future and explores scenarios for a new global order, whether multipolar or bipolar led by the United States and China, making it a significant addition to Arab scholarship in strategic studies and international relations.
