Noha Adel Reveals Secrets of "Spring Enters Laughing" in Alexandria Premiere
The cultural program "Independent Cinematics" in Alexandria premiered Noha Adel’s film "Spring Enters Laughing", with a full audience and engaging discussions on independent cinema and its bold female perspectives
Tonight, Friday, the feature film "Spring Enters Laughing" was screened as part of "Independent Cinematics", organized by Hathour Association for Culture & Arts in collaboration with the independent cinema center Cinephile Alexandria 🌟🎬.
The screening was attended by a full house and notable figures in cinema and criticism, including cinematographer Hussein Bakr, translator Rola Adel, critic Ahmed Saad Eldin, director Hanan Rady, director Ahmed Rashwan, Hathour Association president, and Wajih Al-Luqani, founder of Cinephile Alexandria.
📝 Following the screening, critic Yehia Khalifa moderated a discussion on the film’s production, aesthetic vision, and approach to screenwriting and directing within Egypt’s independent cinema wave, which boldly addresses women’s issues 💫✨.
Director Noha Adel stated that screening the film in Alexandria holds special significance, adding:
"I’m thrilled to discuss it with the Alexandrian audience, an experience I’ve long hoped for" 🌸
She elaborated on the film’s creation, referencing its inspiration from poet Salah Jahin’s quatrain and described it as a milestone in her career after receiving awards and being screened at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival 🏆🎥.
Adel explained that the idea for a feature-length film came during the COVID-19 pandemic, connecting spring and human emotions like joy, sorrow, longing, and separation into a cinematic narrative 🎬✨.

Set in spring, it presents four intertwined stories of secrets, anger, hidden sorrows, and apparent laughter, culminating with an unexpected autumn ending.
