Reception of the Taekwondo champions after winning 8 medals at the President's Cup of the International Federation in Ethiopia.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomed the Egyptian Taekwondo team after winning 8 medals at the President's Cup of the International Taekwondo Federation in Ethiopia, with Minister Ashraf Sobhi praising the players' performance and the state's efforts in supporting sports champions.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, delegated several senior officials from the ministry and the Egyptian Taekwondo Federation to welcome the national taekwondo team upon their return from Ethiopia, following their outstanding participation in the President's Cup of the International Taekwondo Federation.
The Egyptian team achieved a new sporting milestone, winning a total of 8 medals in the tournament—3 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze—amid intense and competitive matches with top African and international teams.
In a message conveyed by ministry representatives to the delegation, Dr. Sobhi expressed his great pride and joy at the honorable achievement by the taekwondo champions, emphasizing that this performance reflects the remarkable progress made by national teams in various individual sports. He also highlighted the significant efforts invested in the technical, physical, and psychological preparation of the athletes.
The minister praised the taekwondo players' performance and fighting spirit during the tournament, affirming that this international achievement strengthens Egypt’s standing on the global taekwondo map and motivates other athletes to strive for further success—especially with Olympic qualification events on the horizon.
Dr. Sobhi stressed that the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, prioritizes the support and full care of sports champions, recognizing the role of sports in shaping individuals and building the country’s soft power. He pointed out that the results achieved in Ethiopia are a direct outcome of this strong backing and national attention to athletes.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide athletes with the ideal environment for success, including improved sports infrastructure and comprehensive technical, medical, and psychological support. This aims to ensure continued medal wins and the raising of Egypt’s flag in major international competitions.
In return, the players, along with the coaching and administrative staff, expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the warm reception and consistent support, stating their determination to continue excelling in upcoming tournaments.
Separately, the minister also mentioned his recent meeting with wrestling champion Mostafa Hussein to follow up on his health after a recent injury. A comprehensive medical and athletic rehabilitation plan has been put in place to prepare him for a swift return to international competitions.
He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to supporting injured athletes and providing the highest standards of rehabilitation, ensuring their quick recovery and return to full form without compromising their performance. He stressed that caring for injured athletes is an integral part of the strategy to develop Egyptian sports.
The minister concluded by affirming that the continued achievements of Egyptian athletes reflect the significant progress in the national sports system and demonstrate the capability of Egyptian youth to succeed when provided with the right environment and support. He added that the ministry’s strategy will continue investing in youth potential and preparing athletes capable of competing globally and winning titles.
