The official poster for the film “Colonia” has been released ahead of its upcoming theatrical run. The film is set to premiere in Egyptian cinemas on January 7, followed by its release across the Arab world on January 15.

The announcement comes after the film’s successful journey through numerous international film festivals, where it received strong critical acclaim and won several prestigious awards, including major audience and acting honors, as well as multiple international prizes in European cinema festivals.

“Colonia” unfolds over a single intense night, forcing a father and son to confront buried memories, unresolved conflicts, and distorted perceptions of one another, in a raw emotional attempt to settle old scores and mend what time has broken.

The film stars Ahmed Malek, Kamel El Basha, and Mayan El Sayed, alongside Abed Anany, Donia Maher, and Hala Marzouk, delivering performances driven by emotional depth and psychological tension.

Marking the feature-length directorial debut of Mohamed Siam, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ahmed Amer, the film brings together a distinguished creative team across cinematography, music, editing, production design, and costume design, giving the project a distinct cinematic identity.

Supported by several international film funds and co-production platforms, “Colonia” now transitions from festival success to its long-awaited encounter with audiences, distributed across the Middle East and North Africa by an independent distributor.
