The National Center for Theater, Music and Folk Arts, affiliated with the Theater Sector of the Ministry of Culture, continues its participation in the national school theater project "School Has Theater" in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

The project aims to develop students' creative abilities, discover artistic talents, and strengthen national identity among younger generations through theater activities.

Target Students and Implementation Period

The project will be implemented during July and August 2026 for primary and preparatory school students across all governorates of Egypt.

This year's theme is "Legends of Immortality and the Symbolism of the Nile in School Theater," focusing on cultural and historical themes.

The project focuses on several key objectives:

  • Discovering artistic talents among students.
  • Developing creativity and self-expression skills.
  • Promoting national identity and belonging.
  • Supporting theater as an educational and cultural tool.

Role of the National Center for Theater

Providing Artistic Support

Director Adel Hassan explained that the center provides specialized artistic support for educational departments and directorates across Cairo and different governorates.

The support is carried out in cooperation with the Central Administration for Student Activities at the Ministry of Education.

Preparing Theaters and Training Facilities

The center cooperates with the General Authority for Cultural Palaces and the Theater Sector to provide suitable theaters and rehearsal spaces for school performances and training sessions.

Documenting School Theater Performances

The National Center for Theater, Music and Folk Arts provides selected theatrical scripts suitable for different age groups and offers artistic consultations to achieve the educational and cultural goals of the project.

The center will also document winning performances in its visual archive as part of preserving Egypt’s theatrical memory.
