Shadia Abdel Hamid Reveals the Secret Behind Identity Theft… and a Fraud Scandal Shakes the Art World
Actress Shadia Abdel Hamid reveals a fraud case where a woman impersonated her identity to scam artists, including Ahmed El Saadany and Taysir Fahmy.
Actress Shadia Abdel Hamid has revealed a troubling fraud incident after discovering that an unknown woman impersonated her identity and used her name to scam several stars in the entertainment industry, exploiting the mutual trust among them to gain money through deceptive means.
In her statements, Shadia explained that this woman contacted actor Ahmed El Saadany, posing as Shadia Abdel Hamid, and urgently requested that he send a sum of money, claiming she was going through an emergency. However, El Saadany’s suspicions led him to verify the matter before taking any action. He immediately contacted the head of the Actors’ Syndicate, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, who completely denied that the real actress made such a call, confirming that someone was impersonating her and exploiting her name to commit fraud.
But it didn’t stop there. Shadia added that the same woman contacted actress Taysir Fahmy and this time succeeded in deceiving her, convincing her to transfer an amount of 2,000 Egyptian pounds, taking advantage of her honesty and good intentions.
Shadia expressed her strong frustration with the recurrence of such incidents, emphasizing the importance of awareness and verifying the identity of anyone requesting money—especially given the rise of electronic and phone scams in recent years. She added that she feels worried about what is happening, especially since her name is being exploited for things unrelated to her.
She pointed out that this phenomenon has been increasingly worrying in the artistic community, noting that several actors had been targeted by similar attempts before, including Yasser Galal and Ahmed Bedeir, both of whom received calls from individuals impersonating colleagues and urgently requesting financial help. Their awareness and contact with the syndicate helped expose the truth in time.
For his part, Syndicate Head Ashraf Zaki confirmed that he is closely monitoring such cases and warned all artists against dealing with any untrusted parties or individuals without full verification of their identities. He noted that the syndicate will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone proven to be involved in such acts, which damage the artistic community and threaten trust among its members.
Shadia concluded her remarks with a message to her colleagues in the industry, saying:
“I ask everyone to be cautious and always verify before taking any step. Exploiting names is a serious matter, and we must all be responsible and protect each other from such despicable acts.”
