Shaheera recalls memories of Mahmoud Yassin: "We lost the spirit... but the art in my blood is still alive."
Shaheera expresses how much she misses Mahmoud Yassin on his birthday and confirms that her distance from the arts was not because of him.

In a heartfelt and emotional moment, the veteran actress Shaheera commemorated the birthday of her late husband, the esteemed actor Mahmoud Yassin, who has passed away but remains alive in the hearts of his family and fans. He is especially remembered for his distinguished artistic career and exceptional personality, blending elegance, wisdom, and tenderness.
Shaheera shared a rare photo of herself with her late husband on her official Facebook account, accompanied by a touching message:
“I miss you, and I miss your presence in our lives — mine and your children’s. On your birthday, I pray to God in these blessed days to illuminate your grave just as you used to light up our lives. We lost love, wisdom, support, and comfort… The years pass, and my feeling of loss grows stronger because you were the soul that made everything easier. May God have mercy on you with His vast mercy that encompasses everything.”Many of Shaheera’s followers and fans of the late actor engaged with her post, expressing their love and appreciation for him and recalling his roles that left a significant mark in the history of Egyptian and Arab cinema and drama.
Shaheera: “Art runs in my blood… and my decision to step back was not because of Mahmoud Yassin”
In a related note, Shaheera had previously denied rumors that she quit acting due to her husband Mahmoud Yassin’s wishes, stressing that this is inaccurate and that her connection to art is deeper than marriage or personal life.
She explained:
“I truly love art, and I have no other profession. Mahmoud was never the reason for my retirement as some claim; on the contrary, he supported my career. I continued my studies at the Cinema Institute after marriage, as I married him while I was in my second year there. Our first project together was the film ‘Forbidden Pictures,’ after which I steadily continued my artistic journey. However, family circumstances and motherhood led me to devote myself fully to them.”
Mahmoud Yassin and Shaheera formed a distinctive artistic and personal couple, earning respect and love from their audience for decades. Their marriage represented a model of stability, understanding, and mutual support, even as Shaheera gradually withdrew from the spotlight.
It is worth noting that Mahmoud Yassin passed away in October 2020, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy of works that continue to immortalize his name, alongside a family that proudly and faithfully carries on his legacy.
