Kuwaiti singer Shams has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of launching her latest song "Tozz", which she recently released on digital platforms. The song quickly gained wide popularity, surpassing 2 million views on YouTube, and spreading across various music apps. It drew significant attention from Arab audiences thanks to its simple yet expressive lyrics, fast-paced rhythm in the beloved maqsum style of Eastern music, and a music video that blends realism with touches of AI.

In exclusive statements, Shams explained the background behind choosing the song’s title, noting that she has long used the word “Tozz” to express indifference toward anything that disturbs her peace. She said:
"I loved the title because it precisely expresses an inner feeling… a brief and direct word that delivers the message I wanted to send, which is: Tozz to everything negative."

She added: "I don’t sing to please everyone. I sing to express myself. This song is a bold reflection of my personality—Tozz to all negativity, Tozz to anyone trying to dim my light or belittle me. Singing, for me, is a stance, not just a melody."

As for choosing an Egyptian word for the title—despite the lyrics being in Iraqi dialect—Shams commented:
"The Egyptian dialect is beloved and familiar to everyone. It’s playful, lively, and spontaneous. I’ve always loved Egypt and its people. Honestly, I’m considering releasing a full song in Egyptian soon to be closer to that audience—especially since Egyptians are known for their refined taste and deep love for authentic art."

Shams spoke about the song topping the trending charts:
"Trends are never guaranteed, but they can be a reward for your sincerity in your work. I always give my utmost effort to every song—and the rest is up to God. When I see the audience engaging and loving it, I truly feel the value of the effort I’ve put in."

Regarding the use of AI in the music video, she said she approached it cautiously—using it as a visual enhancement tool without compromising the soul of the work. She affirmed:
"AI is useful, but it can never replace real emotion. For me, art has a soul. No matter how advanced technology gets, human emotion remains the essence. I might use AI more in the future, but carefully—so I don’t lose the spontaneous and genuine Shams vibe."

The lyrics, written in a bold, colloquial Iraqi style, weave together themes of defiance, nonchalance, and heartbreak. The song opens with:

"Tozz to those who left and never returned... to those who loved and forgot... to those who betrayed and weren’t loyal — Tozz..."

The first verse ends with a line that blends pride and pain:

"I’m the sun, and I burn anyone who tries to dim me… and those who fall from my eyes—I step over them."
The second verse carries a sarcastic, raw tone:

"There’s no love these days—love? More like crap... I laugh at that word—love is extinct now."

Reaching a climax of rejection:

"Anyone who has no good in them—don’t ever say that’s me. In tough times, they become someone else."

The song was written and composed by Firas Al-Dharr, musically arranged by Maytham Alaa Al-Deen, and directed by Joseph Nassar, who gave the video a distinctive visual style that merges cinematic shots with AI-powered modern techniques.
