From Theater Stage to Household Name
Azza Bahaa studied at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts. One of the major turning points in her early career was her participation in the play El Wad Sayed El Shaghal in 1993 alongside the legendary Adel Imam. She once revealed that her role came by coincidence after another actress dropped out, and Adel Imam offered her the opportunity. However, she was unable to travel with the troupe to the U.S. due to academic commitments, which reportedly upset the star.
Although theater was her entry into acting, her real fame came through television, where she secured a prominent spot among leading actresses in Egyptian and Arab TV drama.

Throughout her career, Azza Bahaa has taken part in over 145 works spanning theater, television, and a few cinematic roles. She is especially remembered for her impactful performances in series such as El Leil We Akhero, Opera Aida, Layali El Helmeya, El Ragol El Akhar, and Fi Baytena Ragol. Her last appearance was in the series Ella Ana, which tackled real-life women’s issues and received wide acclaim.
Personal Life: Difficult Marriages and Painful Endings
Azza Bahaa has had three marriages, each with its own story. Her first marriage was to businessman Khaled Barakat, ex-husband of dancer-actress Nelly, and they had a son named Adham. That marriage lasted three years and ended in 1999.
Her second marriage, approved by her mother, lasted nine years but also ended in separation despite outward harmony. Her third marriage was the most painful; her husband passed away after two years, and she later discovered he had married another woman in secret. She once said in an interview, “I found out he was cheating on me the day I buried him.”
Despite the personal hardships, Azza Bahaa has maintained her privacy and rarely speaks about her personal life publicly, preferring to keep the spotlight on her work and artistic contributions.
