The Algeria vs Sudan match witnessed a technical error before kickoff in the first round of Group E at AFCON 2025.
Mostafa Mohamed, striker for Egypt, appeared on the lineup sheet for Sudan, causing confusion among fans and commentators.
On the field, Riyad Mahrez scored Algeria’s opening goal in the 2nd minute, marking the fastest goal of the current tournament and giving the Desert Warriors a strong start.
The first half also saw a turning point as Sudan’s Salah Adel was sent off in the 39th minute with a direct red card, leaving the “Jedi Falcons” to play with ten men.
