At the Sayed Darwish Theatre inside the Alexandria Opera House 🎭, the 12th edition of the Alexandria Short Film Festival revealed the winners of the Egyptian Film Competition, which featured 20 diverse short films reflecting the growing strength of Egypt’s independent cinema scene 🎬✨.

The competition highlighted a new generation of filmmakers exploring bold storytelling techniques and addressing social and human issues through creative cinematic approaches 🌍.


🏆 Gold Winner

The Gold Hypatia Award went to “The Last Miracles”, directed by Abdel Wahab Shawky. The film stood out for its distinctive narrative structure and emotional depth, offering a layered exploration of human and psychological transformations 🎬.

Its visual storytelling and restrained cinematic language allowed audiences to engage deeply with its themes, making it one of the most impactful entries in the competition ✨.


🥈 Silver Winner

The Silver Hypatia Award was presented to “The Last Rabbi”, directed by Ahmed Essam. The film explored identity and internal conflict through a symbolic and visually rich cinematic style 🎭.
