The passing of the Opera Director’s father... Funeral date and tribute ceremony for Abdel Wahab
The death of the father of the Director of the Opera House, Alaa Abdel Salam, and the funeral prayer today at Sayeda Nafisa Mosque.
The Egyptian Opera House issued a statement mourning the death of Dr. Alaa Abdel Salam’s father, the Chairman of the General Authority of the National Cultural Center "Egyptian Opera House," who passed away today, Thursday, May 29, 2025.
The statement said that all the artists and employees at the Opera House expressed their deepest condolences to Alaa Abdel Salam, praying that God grants mercy to the deceased, admits him to His vast paradise, and grants patience and solace to his family in this great loss.
The funeral prayer for the deceased will be held after Asr prayer today at Sayeda Nafisa Mosque, and the body will be buried at the Al-Khayala cemetery.
Commemorative Concert as part of "Wahabiyat" Events
In another context, the Opera House announces a special concert by the National Arab Music Band led by Maestro Hazem Al-Qasabgi, on Saturday evening, May 31, at the Arab Music Institute Theater, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s event series.
The concert is part of the "Wahabiyat" series, which presents a selection of the most beautiful and famous works of the musical legend Mohamed Abdel Wahab. The program includes masterpieces such as "Fouq El Shouk," "Ya Wabour Qouli," "Min ‘Azzabak," "Sahart Menho El Layali," "Last Albi," "Mawal Emta El Zaman," "Aghar Men Albi," "Albi Bey’oli Kalam," "Illa Enta," "Ah Law Ta’raf," "Besaraha," and "Sokkan El Leil W Leilat Hob."
The performance will feature prominent young artists including Ayat Farouk, Mohamed Tarek, Ahmed Essam, and Ahmed Adel, in a unique artistic experience celebrating Abdel Wahab’s rich legacy
