Walid Saad Clarifies Touleet Dispute: It's About Copyright, Not Personal Differences
Composer Walid Saad has clarified that his dispute with singer Touleet is strictly related to copyright and intellectual property rights, stressing that the matter has nothing to do with any personal conflict.
🎼 Egyptian composer Walid Saad has addressed the recent controversy involving singer Touleet, emphasizing that the issue is a legal dispute over the use of a copyrighted musical work rather than a personal disagreement.
The controversy began after Saad stated that a promotional track performed by Touleet for a telecommunications advertisement contained a musical passage similar to his composition "Fi El Kam Youm Elly Fato", originally performed by Latifa in 2008.
According to Saad, the song was composed by him with lyrics written by Nader Abdallah, and any reuse of the melody requires prior authorization from the copyright holders.
He explained that the dispute revolves around intellectual property rights protected by Egyptian law, which grants composers and lyricists exclusive rights to authorize the use of their works.
Saad also clarified that while Latifa performed the song, the copyright ownership belongs to the composer and lyricist.
As of now, neither Touleet nor the advertisement's production company has issued an official response to the allegations.
Saad added that legal procedures are underway, including efforts to remove the disputed track from YouTube, while the final decision will ultimately rest with the competent legal authorities.
Masked singer TUL8TE made his first public appearance with Latifa since the recent controversy over allegations that one of his songs borrowed the melody of her hit "Fi El Kam Youm Elly Fatou", as the two shared a friendly video call that quickly caught fans' attention.
