Former actress Abeer El-Sharkawy has topped social media trends in recent hours following a bold and candid phone interview on the “Tafaseel” program, hosted by media personality Nehal Taiel. During the call, El-Sharkawy tackled sensitive issues including the hijab, Hala Shiha, marriage, and the arts, prompting widespread public reaction.

The circulating video clip from the interview revealed her strong views, delivered with clarity that sparked debate among viewers—particularly regarding her stance on the hijab and what she described as the "unspoken exclusion" of veiled women in the entertainment industry.

Hijab and Doubt: “Temptation Can Affect Anyone”
El-Sharkawy expressed her understanding of actress Hala Shiha’s hesitation regarding the hijab, emphasizing that such inner conflict is natural and human, and should not be harshly judged.
“Having doubts about wearing the hijab is normal—even during the time of the Prophet’s companions, some left Islam and then returned. I’m not making a comparison, but it shows this can happen. May God support Hala—she needs to be stronger. We all face trials, but the most important thing is to return to God with sincerity.”
On Marriage: “I Haven’t Found a Man Worth Marrying”
When discussing her personal life, El-Sharkawy stated she’s not considering remarriage and doesn’t concern herself with finding a “Prince Charming,” noting that the qualities she seeks are rare today.
“Most men are disappointing—except for a few. Women still show loyalty and values, but men have serious issues. I haven’t found a man worth marrying.”

Returning to Acting—But on Her Terms
Regarding a possible return to acting, she said she’s open to it if offered a respectful role that aligns with her values, stressing that the obstacle lies with the entertainment industry, not her.
“I’m not against art—it’s a powerful message—but the problem isn’t with me. The industry doesn’t accept veiled women. They might let a character wear hijab in a scene to please the audience, but having a genuinely veiled actress long-term? That’s not acceptable to them.”

Hijab Is Non-Negotiable: “This World Isn’t a Place of Comfort”
She added that she sees the hijab as a divine blessing and is determined to hold on to it despite moments of weakness or doubt.
“The hijab is a gift from God, and I fight to stay committed to it. Sometimes I feel like removing it, but this life isn’t meant to be easy—true life is in the Hereafter.”
