Security forces in Giza are intensifying efforts to uncover the mystery surrounding the death of Ahmed El-Degwi, the grandson of Dr. Nawal El-Degwi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA). His body was found under suspicious circumstances in his apartment in 6th of October City.
📍 Report of the Body Found
The incident began when Major General Mohamed El-Sharqawy, Director of the General Department of Giza Investigations, received a notification from Colonel Mohamed Amin, Head of the October Sector Investigations, reporting the discovery of a young man’s body inside his apartment. Police forces promptly moved to the scene and confirmed that the deceased was Ahmed El-Degwi, grandson of Dr. Nawal El-Degwi.
🧪 Firearm Found Beside the Body – Initial Inspection
During the initial inspection carried out by the investigation team, injuries were found on the body, and a firearm (pistol) was discovered lying next to it. This led investigators to keep all scenarios open, including suicide or foul play.
🔬 Forensic Team Begins Investigation
The firearm was secured by the forensic laboratory team, which began examining it for fingerprints and matching the extracted bullets from the body with the weapon’s ammunition. These tests aim to determine whether the victim shot himself or was assaulted.

Under the direction of Major General Sameh El-Hamili, Assistant Minister of Interior for Giza Security, an extensive investigative team was formed, led by Major General Hani Shaarawy, Director of Criminal Investigations, and Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Abu Bakr, Inspector of October’s First and Second Precincts. The team is currently reviewing surveillance camera footage around the scene and interviewing neighbors and possible witnesses for any information that could help clarify the incident.

An official police report has been filed, and the Public Prosecution has begun its investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident. It has requested a forensic report and laboratory analysis of the weapon found at the scene.
