In yet another heartbreaking scene that reflects the harsh reality of Egypt’s roads and the swift hand of fate, a devastating accident unfolded on the **Hamoul–Sahait road** in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate on Friday evening. The violent collision claimed the lives of **four individuals**—a young man, his fiancée, her aunt, and the tuk-tuk driver transporting them—following a head-on crash between their tuk-tuk and a private car coming from the opposite direction.

The accident occurred at a critical stretch of the road, long known for its high traffic volume and risk, especially during nighttime hours. Emergency and security services rushed to the scene upon receiving the distress call.

Major General Ihab Attia, Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Kafr El-Sheikh Security, was informed by Major General Mohamed Fawzy, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, about a collision involving a tuk-tuk and a private vehicle on the Hamoul–Sahait road, with multiple casualties reported.

Ambulances supported by police and traffic units promptly arrived at the scene, working urgently to rescue those involved. The deceased and injured were transported to **Hamoul Central Hospital**, chosen for its proximity and ability to provide immediate care.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident took place as a young man, “E.G.” — a university student from Hamoul — was driving a private vehicle toward the village of Sahait when he suddenly collided with a tuk-tuk driven by a 33-year-old man identified as “M.N.”

The impact was catastrophic, completely destroying the tuk-tuk and resulting in the deaths of its driver and three passengers:

“H.A.”, a 38-year-old woman,
“A.A.”, a 25-year-old woman from Sohag and the fiancée of the deceased groom,
“S.A.”, a 30-year-old man from Sahait and the groom-to-be.

Traffic forces worked swiftly to remove debris and restore traffic flow. Both vehicles involved were impounded for technical inspection.

Police filed official report No. 13648 for the year 2025 at Hamoul Police Station. The public prosecution has since launched an investigation, summoning eyewitnesses and questioning the driver of the private car to determine the full circumstances and legal responsibilities surrounding the crash.

The tragedy once again highlights the **dangers of traveling on rural roads at night**, particularly those lacking adequate safety measures. Residents of the area have renewed calls for stronger traffic enforcement and urgent infrastructure improvements to prevent further disasters of this nature.

Counselor Nevin Wahsh emphasizes that criminal investigations, despite their importance in the initial detection of crimes, cannot be considered fully-fledged evidence in criminal proceedings. Not every piece of information recorded in investigation reports rises to the level of legal proof, and the belief formed by law enforcement officers cannot, on its own, justify a criminal conviction.
