The Israeli occupation army has announced the death of a senior officer from the Shin Bet (Israel’s General Security Service) during intense clashes with Palestinian resistance factions in the southern Gaza Strip, specifically around the city of Khan Yunis, as Israeli casualties continue to rise amid ongoing ground battles.
According to Hebrew media reports, the officer, Tal Mofshovich—a reserve captain in the army and a prominent figure in the Shin Bet—was killed by an explosive device that targeted the unit he was part of during a field operation in Khan Yunis. The Israeli army confirmed that Mofshovich was serving as the deputy commander of a company in Engineering Battalion 7086, affiliated with the elite Golani Brigade.
Mofshovich's death marks a significant blow to Israel’s General Security Service, bringing the total number of Shin Bet personnel killed since the start of the military operation in Gaza to 11, as elite and intelligence units continue to suffer growing losses inside the enclave.
On the battlefield, the Al-Qassam Brigades and Al-Quds Brigades continued to carry out strategic operations against Israeli forces, focusing on areas of ground incursion in the eastern and southern parts of Gaza. Resistance sources reported that Al-Qassam fighters detonated a booby-trapped house where several Israeli soldiers had taken shelter east of Abasan al-Kabira, using pre-planted high-explosive devices. The blast reportedly resulted in several casualties among the Israeli troops.
