Security sources in Minya Governorate confirmed that a third-year secondary school student attempted to take her own life inside an Arabic language exam hall at one of the local schools. The student reportedly cut her vein and swallowed 12 unidentified pills. Ambulances and security forces immediately rushed to the scene, and the student was transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary medical care. Meanwhile, the public prosecution launched an investigation, filed an official report on the incident, secured all exam materials, and recorded statements from witnesses and school officials.

In the same context, the Ministry of Education confirmed that it had issued strict instructions to exam committee heads to enforce thorough inspection procedures, banning the entry of any electronic devices or unauthorized materials. It also activated psychological support teams in several exam halls and continues to monitor the progress of exams closely to ensure order and transparency.
On the morning of Sunday, June 22, 2025, Arabic language exams for the general secondary certificate (Thanaweya Amma) began—marking the first of the core subjects that count toward students' final grades. The exams were held under tight security and direct supervision from the ministry’s central operations room. Some committees also had psychologists and social workers present to intervene immediately if needed, aiming to provide a psychologically safe environment and reduce student stress.

After the exam, students’ impressions varied. Some described the exam as fair and suitable for the average student, while others expressed frustration over the limited time compared to the number of questions (55). They pointed out that certain questions, especially in the grammar section, required intense focus and quick thinking. One student commented: “The questions weren’t too hard, but we needed a bit more time to go back and review our answers.”

The ministry emphasized that it would take firm action against any violations or attempts to disrupt the system throughout the rest of the exam period, in order to uphold fairness and equal opportunity for all students.
