In an active participation in the union elections, journalists from Al-Ahram newspaper organized a large march this morning, heading to the syndicate headquarters to cast their votes in the 2025 Journalists Syndicate Elections and participate in the annual electoral celebration. The march saw a wide turnout from journalists expressing their desire to elect their representatives for the syndicate council, amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and emotion among the fellow journalists.


The activities of the Journalists Syndicate General Assembly meeting, which started today at the syndicate's theater, continue with a high attendance of voters. This meeting serves as an important gathering for journalists to discuss syndicate affairs and make decisions regarding the syndicate’s future. The General Assembly agenda includes several vital issues that concern all journalists.

1. Approval of the minutes of the General Assembly meeting held in March 2023 to ensure the accuracy of previous minutes and review any notes raised by members.


2. Consideration of the Syndicate Council’s report on activities for the year ending in February 2025, and its adoption. Journalists will review the achievements made over the past year, including challenges faced by the council and how they were handled.


3. Adoption of the final accounts for the year ending on December 31, 2024, which includes the budget details and available funds for the syndicate, along with the draft budget for 2025. The discussion will focus on the distribution of financial resources and expenses.


4. Discussion of issues raised by the Syndicate Council and suggestions from members to ensure ongoing communication between the council and members, as well as interaction with proposals aimed at improving the syndicate and the profession.


5. Election of the new syndicate head (Nekib) and six new council members. If a runoff election is necessary for the position of Nekib, it will take place the following day from 3 PM to 7 PM, with intense competition between candidates for the position.


6. Any urgent issues that the Syndicate Council wishes to present to the General Assembly, which may include urgent matters requiring immediate intervention from the council.
