Apple is taking its Vision Pro headset into the world of live sports by introducing immersive video streaming for the upcoming NBA season. For the first time, users will be able to watch select Los Angeles Lakers games in a fully immersive environment.

According to Apple, Vision Pro owners will feel the excitement of each match as if they were courtside, with unique camera angles that cannot be captured through traditional broadcasts.

The Vision Pro content library already includes immersive experiences such as a submarine-themed short film and a Metallica concert. However, the Lakers games will mark the first-ever live sports content available through this cutting-edge format.

The first game is expected to debut in early 2026 through the official NBA app or the new Spectrum SportsNet application, with a full schedule of games to be announced later this fall.

To access the feature, users will need to update their headset to visionOS 26.

This innovation transforms sports viewing from simply watching a match on a flat screen to feeling fully surrounded by the action—almost like sitting in the arena itself.

However, the biggest challenge facing immersive video is not its quality but the limited availability of content. Since Vision Pro’s launch nearly twenty months ago, demand for immersive videos has consistently exceeded Apple’s production capacity.

Industry analysts suggest that this step could pave the way for broader collaborations between Apple and global sports leagues, potentially making Vision Pro a go-to platform for next-generation live sports entertainment.
