Egypt has made remarkable progress in fixed internet service performance globally, climbing 7 positions from April 2024 to April 2025. This improvement is supported by major reforms and substantial investments carried out by the Ministry of Communications and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the four leading telecom companies.

According to recent reports, Egypt’s fixed internet speed reached 85.64 Mbps in April 2025, which elevated the country to 71st place worldwide, compared to 78th place the previous year. This development reflects the ongoing commitment to improving digital infrastructure and providing high-quality services that meet the growing needs of users.

This growth comes amid the telecommunications and information technology sector being the fastest-growing sector in the Egyptian economy, with a growth rate of 16.3% during the fiscal year 2022-2023. This marks the highest growth rate among all economic sectors for five consecutive years, highlighting its vital role in driving national development.
Egypt continues to lead Africa in fixed internet speed, reflecting the success of modernization and development strategies adopted by the sector. These efforts have contributed to improving the quality of digital services and expanding coverage to most areas of the country, supporting the state's directions towards digital transformation and strengthening the digital economy.

Regionally and internationally, Oman dropped two places in the fixed internet speed ranking in March 2025, occupying 72nd place with a speed of 87.03 Mbps. Mexico ranked 75th with a speed of 85.21 Mbps, highlighting the outstanding performance of Egypt compared to several other countries.

These indicators confirm that Egypt is steadily advancing towards establishing itself among the world’s top countries in digital communications, with continuous focus on developing digital infrastructure, improving service quality, and achieving digital inclusion that contributes to accelerating economic and social development in the country.
