🎬 El Gouna Announces “CineGouna” Jury
El Gouna Film Festival has announced the jury for the ninth edition of its “CineGouna for Film Production Support” program, bringing together a group of experienced film professionals, including German producer Dorothe Beinemeier.
The announcement follows a selection and evaluation process for the projects submitted to the program, which provides support and development opportunities for Arab filmmakers and film projects at different stages of production.
Film-support programs play an important role within festivals by giving emerging projects access to professional expertise, development opportunities and connections within the film industry.
🌍 More Than 310 Projects Submitted
The ninth edition of “CineGouna for Film Production Support” received more than 310 projects from across the Arab world.
The submitted projects underwent an evaluation process conducted by a specialized panel of experts, with the aim of selecting projects for the different stages of the program.
The large number of submissions reflects the diversity of cinematic ideas and projects being developed by filmmakers across the Arab region, covering different genres and stages of production.
⭐ 13 Projects Selected for Development
Following the evaluation process, 13 projects were selected for the development stage.
The selection includes 10 feature fiction projects, two documentary projects and one animation project, representing a range of cinematic formats within the CineGouna program.
The development stage provides selected filmmakers with an opportunity to further develop the artistic and production aspects of their projects while benefiting from professional expertise and industry support.
🎥 Six Films Selected for Post-Production
In addition to the projects selected for development, six films were chosen for the post-production stage.
The group includes three feature fiction films and three feature-length documentaries, giving projects that have already reached an advanced stage of production an opportunity to receive additional support as they move toward completion.
Supporting films at the post-production stage represents a different form of assistance from developing projects at an earlier stage, as these films have already moved through substantial parts of the production process.
🇪🇬 Four Projects Selected for “Egyptian Voices”
Four projects in development were also selected to participate in the “Egyptian Voices” program.
The projects were selected following an evaluation process based on a number of criteria related to the content and artistic direction of each project, as well as the talent involved and its production potential.
The program provides an additional platform for Egyptian projects and filmmakers, supporting the development of new cinematic voices and giving their work greater opportunities to progress.
📋 Multiple Criteria Used to Evaluate Projects
The evaluation of projects submitted to CineGouna was based on several criteria designed to assess their artistic and production potential.
These included content, artistic vision and the participating talents, alongside the available resources and financial feasibility of bringing each project to completion.
Considering these different factors allows the selection process to look beyond the initial idea of a film and examine its artistic direction, creative team and practical potential for production.
🎭 A Specialized Jury of Film Professionals
The CineGouna jury includes a group of experienced film professionals, among them German producer Dorothe Beinemeier.
The participation of specialists from the film industry is part of the program’s evaluation process, helping assess the projects selected to receive support during the festival’s ninth edition.
Through the jury and the various evaluation stages, the program considers both the artistic qualities and production needs of the submitted projects, taking into account the different stages each film has reached.
✨ Supporting Filmmakers in the Ninth Edition
The announcement of the CineGouna jury and the selected projects marks another step in the “CineGouna for Film Production Support” program during its ninth edition.
With projects in development, films in post-production and additional projects selected for “Egyptian Voices,” the program covers several stages of the filmmaking process and provides different forms of support to participating filmmakers.
Through these initiatives, El Gouna Film Festival continues to create opportunities for cinematic projects and emerging talents from Egypt and across the Arab world.
