Billionaire Elon Musk has settled a high-profile lawsuit with four former Twitter executives who were seeking $128 million in severance and compensation following their dismissal immediately after Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of the company in 2022.
The agreement brings an end to months of legal tension. The executives—former CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and legal advisers Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde—claimed that Musk abruptly fired them and refused to pay owed severance packages as retribution for their efforts to enforce the merger agreement after Musk had attempted to back out.
Legal documents referenced a quote from Musk in his official biography, where he allegedly stated he intended to "hunt them until the day they die," a remark used by their legal team to argue Musk's actions were driven by personal vendetta.
While no specific terms of the settlement have been disclosed, court filings confirmed that both parties reached an agreement, officially closing the case.
This resolution follows a similar settlement involving about 6,000 former Twitter employees who had also sued for unpaid severance or lack of compensation after widespread layoffs post-acquisition.
With this settlement, Musk closes another contentious legal chapter in his controversial takeover of Twitter—now rebranded as X—as debates continue over his management style and disruptive approach in the tech and digital media space.
