The OpenAI DevDay 2025 conference held in San Francisco brought a wave of major announcements set to redefine how users and developers interact with AI.
Among the highlights was the launch of ChatGPT Apps, a new feature that allows users to connect and use popular services such as Canva, Spotify, and Expedia directly within ChatGPT — no external switching required.
OpenAI also introduced AgentKit, a comprehensive toolkit for building and running intelligent AI agents, along with the release of advanced models like GPT-5 Pro, Sora 2, and Sora 2 Pro through its API, giving developers unprecedented access to next-generation AI capabilities.
ChatGPT Apps – Seamless Third-Party Integration
The new ChatGPT Apps feature enables users to link their favorite services to ChatGPT and perform tasks through simple text commands.
Initial supported apps include Booking, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow, with upcoming additions such as Uber, DoorDash, and OpenTable.
The company also announced a new Apps SDK built on Anthropic’s MCP protocol, allowing developers to build, test, and publish their own ChatGPT apps later this year. A dedicated App Store-like directory and monetization options are also in development.
Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro – Next-Generation Visual AI
OpenAI revealed two upgraded video generation models:
Sora 2 produces 720p videos.
Sora 2 Pro outputs up to 1792×1024p resolution with videos up to 12 seconds long, in either landscape or portrait mode.
Pricing tiers:
• Sora 2 – $0.10 per second
• Sora 2 Pro – $0.30 per second
• Sora 2 Pro (No Watermark) – $0.50 per second
For privacy and safety reasons, the models currently do not support real human video input or image-to-video conversions.
GPT-5 Pro – Deeper Reasoning and Extended Context
The GPT-5 Pro model represents OpenAI’s most advanced system yet, capable of multi-step reasoning and long-form analytical responses, making it ideal for research, business intelligence, and enterprise AI applications.
Usage pricing starts at $15 per million input tokens and $120 per million output tokens, reflecting its enterprise-grade positioning.
AgentKit – Building Autonomous AI Agents
Finally, OpenAI launched AgentKit, a modular development platform designed to create, connect, and deploy intelligent agents powered by large language models.
Developers can integrate data sources, attach custom tools, and even build voice-activated agents, signaling a new era of interactive automation.
With these innovations, OpenAI reinforces its leadership in bridging everyday user experience with advanced AI development, shaping the foundation for a smarter, more connected digital ecosystem.
