On Sunday, June 22, Israeli authorities announced the partial reopening of the country’s airspace, beginning at 11:00 AM local time, to operate designated evacuation flights for citizens stranded abroad, amid ongoing military escalation with Iran.

According to the Airports Authority, Ben Gurion International Airport, located near Tel Aviv, will be open for incoming flights between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM as part of the government’s “Safe Return” initiative launched after clashes erupted on June 13.
In a related development, Iran’s mission to the United Nations has formally requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council in response to recent U.S. airstrikes on nuclear facilities inside Iran, which Tehran has labeled an “unlawful act of aggression.”

The request followed a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced a “highly successful” strike on strategic nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, claiming the operation aimed to disrupt Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities.

In its official letter to the Security Council, Iran’s UN delegation emphasized the need for urgent condemnation of the attacks, describing them as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
President Trump, in a post on the Truth Social platform, stated that the Fordow facility—dubbed “the crown jewel of Iran’s nuclear program”—was completely destroyed, highlighting the scale of damage inflicted by the U.S. air raids south of Tehran.

In a later televised address, Trump issued a stark warning to Iran’s leadership: “You can choose the path of peace, or face tragedies worse than those of the past eight days.” He stressed that the strike was a clear demonstration of America’s ability to carry out precision operations deep within Iranian territory without any casualties among U.S. forces.

Trump concluded his remarks by saying, “All aircraft returned safely… We are proud of our American heroes.”
