Forgery over inheritance… 5 defendants sentenced to severe imprisonment in the case involving Hosam Shawky’s ex-wife.
Five defendants sentenced to 5 years in prison for forging the marriage contract of Hosam Shawky’s ex-wife to seize his inheritance.
The Cairo Criminal Court ruled today, Thursday, to sentence a woman and four defendants to 5 years of severe imprisonment for forging a marriage contract in the name of the late producer Hosam Shawky. The forgery aimed to seize his money and property after his death.
The court also sentenced a legal registrar’s secretary and another defendant to one year in prison with labor, while acquitting three other defendants of the charges against them.
Investigations revealed that the defendants forged a national ID card in the name of the late producer and used the forged document to complete a fake marriage contract before a well-meaning registrar. One of the defendants impersonated the husband using the forged ID.
According to the investigations, the defendants conspired and assisted in forging official documents to gain financial benefits from the inheritance of the famous producer. However, their scheme was uncovered, and they were referred for trial.
