The report highlighted that international media extensively analyzed its coverage of both domestic and international Egyptian affairs during March 2025, emphasizing Egypt’s prominent position in the global media spotlight.
Diaa Rashwan, head of the State Information Service, explained that the monthly report analyzes a broad range of media content focused on Egypt’s foreign policy. In March 2025 alone, approximately 685 reports and media pieces were monitored from international outlets across the world.
The report revealed that the international media was primarily concerned with Egypt’s stance on the war in Gaza, which topped global media coverage, surpassing other issues such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) crisis and the Sudanese conflict. The media particularly focused on Egypt’s efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as its firm opposition to the proposed displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
The report further noted the strong interest shown by international media in Egypt’s role in reaching a truce between Palestinian factions and Israel, alongside Egypt’s support for continuous humanitarian relief. Positive media narratives emphasized Egypt’s rejection of forced displacement and its support for the reconstruction of Gaza without relocating its residents—an approach that garnered support from both Arab and European countries.
On another note, the report documented a wide variety of international media sources that covered Egypt’s foreign policy, identifying 175 media outlets—including major platforms such as CNN, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, and Reuters. Media coverage also came from outlets in Europe, Asia, the Arab world, and neighboring countries.
Statistics in the report indicated that 84% of international media praised Egypt’s handling of political and humanitarian issues in Gaza, especially its role in promoting regional stability. Some of the most favorable reports highlighted Egypt’s cooperation with Qatar and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement and its efforts in supporting Gaza’s reconstruction.
Egypt’s support for hosting an international conference on Gaza reconstruction was also widely lauded, with media reports—backed by entities such as the United Nations and the European Union—emphasizing the importance of Egypt’s role in ensuring reconstruction efforts that uphold Palestinian rights. In this context, the humanitarian aid provided by Egypt and other nations was acknowledged as easing the suffering of Gaza’s residents.
Despite political and economic challenges facing Egypt’s foreign policy, the international media portrayed the Egyptian government as committed to regional stability. Egypt’s diplomatic and political initiatives—particularly its leadership in hosting the emergency Arab summit in the New Administrative Capital on March 4, 2025—were globally appreciated as part of its engagement in addressing key regional and international issues.
Other topics covered in the international media regarding Egypt’s foreign policy included growing efforts to improve bilateral relations with countries such as the UAE and Lebanon, as well as strengthened cooperation with neighboring states like Israel on security matters, and Somalia and Ethiopia regarding water issues and the GERD. These developments have enhanced Egypt’s role as a political and security stabilizer in the region and increased its influence in international diplomatic circles.
Beyond political affairs, international media also highlighted Egypt’s economic and trade relations with major countries. Significant attention was paid to Egypt’s expanding global partnerships across sectors, particularly in energy and infrastructure.
