Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court – Fourth Circuit – has issued a 6-year rigorous prison sentence for an unemployed defendant convicted of armed burglary and assaulting the residents of a home in Qanater El-Khayriya, Qalyubia Governorate.
The ruling was issued under the chairmanship of Judge Dr. Reda Ahmed Eid, with panel members Judge Mostafa Rashad Mahmoud Mostafa, Judge Ahmed Mohamed Saafan, and Judge Mohamed Hosni El-Dabaa, and court clerk Assem Tayel.
According to case files, the Public Prosecution referred the defendant, Saber A.S., aged 39 and a resident of Sholqan Village in Qanater El-Khayriya, to criminal trial in case number 23299 of 2023 (Qanater El-Khayriya Criminal Court) and general case number 4044 of 2023 (South Banha). He faced charges of armed robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of a bladed weapon.
Investigations revealed that the defendant broke into the home of the victim, Abdel Monem Sayed Shafie Hussein, accompanied by an unidentified accomplice, threatening them with a knife to take control of the situation. He used violence and intimidation to subdue them and steal a sum of money from the house.
The defendant also attempted to rob two other residents, Shafie Abdel Monem Sayed Shafie Hussein and Ahmed Abdel Monem Sayed, attacking them and causing injuries confirmed by medical reports. However, their resistance thwarted the robbery attempt.
The investigation confirmed that the defendant was in possession of a sharp weapon used for assault, further emphasizing the seriousness of the crime, especially given the use of violence inside a residence, directly threatening the victims’ safety.
The court found the defendant guilty on all charges and sentenced him to six years of rigorous imprisonment, sending a clear message that the law will not tolerate violent robberies or threats to personal safety.
