The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the immediate closure of an unlicensed addiction treatment clinic in Mariouty, Giza, after a mass escape of patients and reports on social media regarding mistreatment within the facility ⚠️🏥

Inspection committees from the Central Administration of Non-Governmental Medical Establishments, in coordination with security authorities, confirmed that the clinic was operating illegally, falsely claiming to be a licensed medical facility, violating Law No. 51 of 1981 (amended) and the Mental Health Law No. 71 of 2009.

The ministry referred the case to the public prosecution, permanently closed the facility, and continues its nationwide inspection campaigns to combat unlicensed establishments, in collaboration with the National Council for Mental Health and the Ministry of Interior 🚨👮‍♂️

During 2025, these campaigns led to the closure of over 112 unlicensed facilities across various governorates, including 25 centers in July and 15 centers in October for failing to meet safety and licensing requirements.

The ministry emphasized that free and confidential addiction treatment services are available at General Secretariat hospitals for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment nationwide, with inquiries accessible via hotline 16023 📞💙
