In a noble humanitarian gesture, Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity has announced receiving a generous donation from an Egyptian businessman to support the families of the victims of the horrific regional road accident that occurred in Ashmoun, Menoufia Governorate, last Friday. The tragic incident claimed the lives of 19 people — 18 young women and their driver — and injured three others, all from the village of Kafr Al-Sanabsa, as they were heading to work as daily wage laborers.

The donation amounted to EGP 38 million, with EGP 2 million allocated to each bereaved family, aiming to provide both financial and emotional support to the grieving families who lost their loved ones in such a devastating moment. The Ministry, in coordination with the General Authority for Social Solidarity and Nasser Social Bank, will distribute the designated funds once all official procedures are completed.

Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, expressed deep gratitude for this initiative, which she described as a powerful reflection of social unity and national responsibility. She praised the humanitarian stance of the donor, who requested to remain anonymous and asked for the donation to be recorded simply under “A Good Samaritan,” embodying the true spirit of selfless giving.
The Minister added that this donation stands as a model of how citizens can support affected families during times of crisis, reaffirming that Egypt is still home to compassionate hearts ready to offer help in the darkest of times.

The Ministry also confirmed that steps are being taken swiftly to ensure the donations reach the families as soon as possible, offering vital support during this period of deep mourning.

This philanthropic act comes at a time when investigations into the accident are still ongoing, amid public calls for stronger road safety measures and the provision of safer transportation alternatives for daily workers — especially young women who face harsh conditions while striving to earn a dignified living.
