OpenAI Plans New Mega Deals Following Its Landmark Agreements with Nvidia, AMD, and Oracle
Sam Altman reveals that OpenAI is preparing new billion-dollar deals after striking major partnerships worth over $1 trillion with Nvidia, AMD, and Oracle.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, announced that the company is preparing to unveil a series of massive new deals in the coming months, despite already signing record-breaking agreements with Nvidia, AMD, and Oracle, valued at more than $1 trillion in 2025 alone.
In an interview on the a16z podcast by Andreessen Horowitz, Altman said that OpenAI is making an aggressive push into infrastructure expansion to prepare for the next generation of AI models and products. “Everyone should expect much more from us soon,” he said, hinting at major upcoming growth.
Around the same time, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” expressing surprise at OpenAI’s recent deal with AMD, which followed Nvidia’s own $100 billion investment agreement with OpenAI.
The AMD deal gave OpenAI up to 10% equity in the chipmaker over several years in exchange for helping develop AMD’s next generation of AI chips — while the Nvidia deal took the opposite route, making Nvidia a direct investor in OpenAI.
Huang explained that Nvidia has long supplied OpenAI through cloud providers like Microsoft Azure, Oracle OCI, and CoreWeave, but this is the first time Nvidia will sell hardware directly to OpenAI, preparing the company to become an independent cloud service operator.
He added that OpenAI still lacks the financial capacity to build such massive data centers, noting that a single gigawatt-scale facility could cost up to $60 billion, including land, energy, and servers.
Throughout 2025, OpenAI signed several historic infrastructure deals, including:
The “Stargate” project with Oracle and SoftBank worth $500 billion to build U.S. data centers.
An additional $300 billion cloud deal with Oracle.
A supply agreement with Nvidia for 10 gigawatts of AI hardware.
A partnership with AMD for an extra 6 gigawatts of capacity.
The “Stargate UK” project to expand in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Economic reports estimate the total value of these deals to exceed $1 trillion, positioning OpenAI as one of the world’s largest investors in AI infrastructure.
Despite these monumental agreements, Altman noted that the company’s revenues remain modest, at around $4.5 billion in the first half of 2025. However, he expressed confidence in the company’s long-term roadmap, saying:
“I’ve never been more confident in our research direction or the economic value that our upcoming models will deliver.”
Altman emphasized that realizing this vision requires industry-wide collaboration, from energy providers and hardware manufacturers to software developers, describing it as a collective effort to build the future of computing.
Analysts say that while some deals appear “circular” — involving equity swaps between OpenAI, AMD, and Nvidia — Altman’s strategy is clearly aimed at securing massive resources without depleting the company’s capital.
Observers agree that OpenAI is positioning itself not just as an AI software developer, but as a global infrastructure powerhouse driving the next era of intelligent computing.
