Ibrahim Imbaby, Head of the Tobacco Division at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, revealed expected movements in the prices of popular cigarettes in the Egyptian market in the coming period. This comes in conjunction with recently implemented price hikes by foreign tobacco companies.

Imbaby confirmed that the Eastern Tobacco Company will raise its product prices as soon as the amended tax bracket limits are officially approved and published in the Official Gazette. He estimated the increase to be around 3 to 4 EGP per pack, attributing the move to recent market changes—particularly after foreign companies raised prices on some of their products earlier in July.

He also noted that the price of some types of molasses tobacco (moassel) has increased, indicating a general trend of adjusting tobacco product prices in line with economic shifts and rising production costs.
New Price List for Philip Morris Products
Philip Morris Egypt announced its new prices, effective Tuesday, July 1, 2025, which now serve as the reference for calculating value-added tax (VAT). The prices are as follows:

Marlboro (all types): EGP 97

Marlboro Crafted: EGP 79

Merit (all types): EGP 105

L&M (all types): EGP 76
The company reaffirmed its commitment to consumer transparency by continuing to feature a QR code on all product packages. This code allows users to verify the official prices—a feature implemented in 2022 to strengthen trust between producers and consumers.

This shift in pricing reflects a broader strategy among manufacturers—both local and international—to regulate the market in response to economic changes and to maintain product availability and quality amid rising operational and production costs.
