Meteorology: Hot Weather, Dust, and Strong Winds to Hit Egypt on Monday, May 19

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has announced the expected weather conditions for Monday, May 19, 2025, forecasting hot daytime temperatures across most parts of the country, with strong wind activity stirring up sand and dust in many areas.
Monday’s Weather: Hot by Day, Mild by Night
According to the authority, hot weather will prevail over Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta, with extremely hot conditions expected in South Sinai and southern Egypt. The northern coasts will experience warm weather. By night, the weather will turn mild across most regions.

Maritime Navigation Disruption in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea
Forecasts indicate disturbances in maritime navigation in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea, with wind speeds ranging between 50 and 70 km/h and waves reaching heights of 2.5 to 3.5 meters. Meanwhile, the Mediterranean Sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights ranging between 1 and 1.5 meters.

Fog, Winds, and Dust Dominate Weather Phenomena
Thick morning fog (from 4 to 7 a.m.) is expected in Greater Cairo, the northwestern coast, the Nile Delta, and Canal cities, accompanied by noticeable wind activity (30–34 km/h) and partially cloudy skies during the day.

South Sinai and the Red Sea mountain ranges will witness strong winds reaching 38 km/h, likely to stir sand and dust in open areas, with predominantly sunny weather.

North Upper Egypt and the Western Desert will experience winds up to 42 km/h, possibly causing dust storms. Southern Upper Egypt will also see 40 km/h winds with sunny skies and scattered clouds.

Marsa Matrouh: High 24°C - Low 18°C

The authority advises caution while driving during early morning hours due to fog, and recommends wearing masks in open areas, especially in regions affected by dusty winds.
