Scandal of Egypt’s Wealth Theft: 4 Suspects Arrested with Gold and Quartz Stones Worth 77 Million EGP
Four individuals were arrested in Aswan with raw gold and smelting tools worth over 77 million EGP, accused of illegal mining.

As part of intensive security campaigns to combat illegal mining of precious metals, the security forces in Aswan Governorate succeeded in arresting four individuals suspected of involvement in the illegal mining of raw gold in the mountainous areas of the governorate.
Incident Details
The operation was carried out based on precise investigations and reliable information received by the Public Security Sector, confirming the suspects’ involvement in extracting raw gold from the mountainous regions of Aswan illegally. After following the necessary legal procedures, the suspects were arrested, and large quantities of raw gold were seized from them, in addition to quartz stones, a metallic piece suspected to be gold, and several tools used in gold smelting.
The suspects were also found in possession of large sums of money, which they admitted were proceeds from selling the raw gold obtained through their illegal activities.
Value of the Seized Items
Experts estimated the value of the seized items at more than 77 million Egyptian pounds, clearly indicating the scale of illegal mining activities and their significant economic impact.
Legal Actions
All necessary legal measures were taken against the detainees, and the case was referred to the competent prosecution to complete investigations and take the required deterrent legal actions against them.
