As part of ongoing security operations to combat organized crime, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior has successfully uncovered and dismantled a highly dangerous criminal network involved in the secret manufacturing of firearms for illegal trade, without any official licenses.
In Giza Governorate, confirmed intelligence reached the Security Sector regarding a group operating a clandestine weapons workshop in the Al-Badrashein area. After intensive investigations and securing the necessary legal approvals, security forces raided the targeted location and arrested the suspects managing the operation.
The search led to the discovery of a cache of weapons, including 9 firearms and a shotgun, along with various manufacturing tools, such as 7 barrels and 27 firing pins, used for the primitive assembly of firearms. All items were seized, and the suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
In a similar case in Dakahlia Governorate, specifically in the Al-Manzala district, criminal investigation units from the Public Security Sector apprehended a dangerous offender who had converted his residence into a weapons manufacturing and distribution workshop, aiming to profit illegally from arms trade.
During the raid, authorities confiscated 15 firearms in his possession, including 11 homemade guns, 2 shotguns, and 2 pistols, in addition to a quantity of ammunition and a large set of weapon manufacturing tools.
These operations are part of the Ministry of Interior’s broader efforts to strengthen public safety and combat all forms of lawlessness, especially criminal activities that pose a threat to public peace and contribute to the spread of armed violence. All legal measures have been taken against the suspects, with official assurances that intensified campaigns will continue to apprehend those involved in illegal firearm production and trafficking.
