A state of emergency was declared in Downtown Cairo this morning following a sudden fire outbreak on one of the upper floors of the Ramses Central building, affiliated with Telecom Egypt. The incident resulted in thick smoke rising from the site and caused panic and confusion among employees and citizens in the surrounding area.

Upon receiving the emergency call, the Civil Protection Operations Room immediately dispatched several fire trucks and civil defense personnel. The response teams quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building or nearby structures—especially critical in this densely populated and highly trafficked area.

Simultaneously, security forces imposed a tight cordon around the building to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth firefighting operations. Employees on the affected floors were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Initial investigations revealed that the fire started in one of the administrative offices on the fifth floor, likely due to an electrical short circuit in one of the devices. The final cause, however, awaits confirmation from the forensic technical examination. No injuries or fatalities were reported, with the damage limited to material losses currently being assessed.

Senior officials from Telecom Egypt immediately arrived at the scene to monitor the situation, reassure staff, and confirm that customer services remained unaffected. Efforts are underway to repair the damage and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident thoroughly and are conducting ongoing cooling and technical inspection procedures to ensure the building’s safety and prevent any potential flare-ups.
