Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the Media Center at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, confirmed that Egypt is currently experiencing unusual weather fluctuations for this time of the summer season. She pointed out that there is still a chance of varying intensities of rainfall across parts of Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, the Canal Cities, and scattered areas along the northern coast. This is due to the influence of an upper atmospheric low-pressure system coinciding with a surface low-pressure system coming from the Mediterranean Sea.

Ghanem explained that the current weather conditions are the result of the presence of hot and humid air masses, which contributed to the formation of cumulus and low-level clouds, leading to sudden rainfall in some areas—especially in eastern and southern Cairo—at a time when such phenomena are not typically expected in July. She added that the high humidity and heat in the lower atmosphere have increased the chances of instability, clearly reflecting the direct impact of climate change on Egypt’s weather.
She also noted that rain may continue intermittently and irregularly over the coming hours, with the possibility of limited wind activity. However, she emphasized that the current situation does not pose a danger so far, although it is considered climatically unusual and requires continuous monitoring.

She advised citizens not to panic but to follow weather updates regularly and to exercise caution while driving, particularly in areas that may experience rain or wet roads. She also stressed the importance of taking climate change seriously in the coming periods, as this type of weather fluctuation may recur in unexpected seasons.
