Media sources reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Washington resorted to using “the most powerful weapons in the world” during the strike targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities—a move described as a qualitative and unprecedented escalation amid rising tensions between the two countries. Rubio affirmed that this operation was planned with utmost care, adding:

“We wanted this strike to send a clear, unmistakable message to Iran and to anyone considering crossing red lines that threaten international security and stability.”

The Secretary noted that this decisive action set Tehran’s nuclear program back several steps, after U.S. intelligence observed an alarming acceleration in uranium enrichment. He explained that the aim of the strike was not merely to damage the facilities but to curtail Iran’s capacity to reach the nuclear-weapons threshold.

In a related context, Rubio stressed the necessity of promptly resuming international nuclear inspections, in line with both parties’ commitment to the ceasefire they had previously negotiated. He argued that returning to strict monitoring mechanisms represents the most crucial guarantee against any Iranian attempt to circumvent sanctions or hide behind peaceful activities.
On the sidelines of the recent NATO summit, Rubio affirmed that the United States will remain an impenetrable shield for global security, noting that the NATO alliance constitutes the first line of defense against threats extending beyond the Middle East, “for Europe’s security and Asia’s security are tightly linked to developments in Tehran.”

These American statements follow successive rounds of warnings and negotiations, accompanied by declarations from the European Union and parties to the previous nuclear deal, expressing concern over the acceleration of Iran’s nuclear activities and urging Tehran to return to the negotiating table without preconditions.

These developments reflect a dramatic shift in U.S. strategy—from relying on economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure to employing military deterrence—sending a message that Washington is prepared to take any necessary action to thwart any nuclear threat to its allies and to global stability.
