Minister of Labor Mohamed Gobran announced on Sunday that Thursday, October 9, 2025, will be considered an official paid holiday for private sector employees subject to the provisions of Labor Law No. 14 of 2025, instead of Monday, October 6, 2025, in celebration of the October 6 War Anniversary (Armed Forces Day).
The minister clarified that employers may require employees to work on this day if necessary, provided that the employee receives double wages or is granted an alternative day off upon a written request filed in their personal record.
In its circular No. (19) of 2025, the Ministry of Labor emphasized that this decision is in accordance with Article (129) of the Labor Law and aims to unify official holidays across all state sectors, reflecting their social and national significance.
The minister stressed the importance of implementing the decision in all workplaces and extended his warmest congratulations to Egypt’s workers and people, wishing the country continued security and prosperity under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
