In a heartbreaking incident that shocked the village of Bani Hamil in the Balina district, south of Sohag Governorate, locals discovered the body of 10-year-old child "Mouataz" who had drowned in the nearby Fouadiya Canal near the Bani Hamil railway station, after being missing for three days under mysterious circumstances. The body was transferred to the central hospital morgue, and the public prosecution has started an investigation to clarify the details of the incident.
The story began with a report received by the security authorities from the child's father, Khaled Abdo Bahaa El-Din, 41 years old, who stated that his son, "Mouataz," had been missing for three days without any knowledge of his whereabouts or the reason for his disappearance. Immediately, the police forces arrived at the scene and started reviewing the cameras in the area as well as gathering information from witnesses. Investigations revealed that the child had gone out from his house to try swimming in the Fouadiya Canal, but the strong current in the water was too much for his swimming ability, leading to his drowning.

The body of "Mouataz" was found floating on the surface of the canal, and locals retrieved it and informed the authorities. The investigation further revealed that the child had been preparing for his end-of-year exams and was progressing well in his studies. A wave of deep sorrow swept through the village after the child's tragic death, as the community had been hopeful for his bright future in education and life. The entire village expressed their grief at losing a young life, full of promise, at such an early age.

In another incident in Sohag, the governorate witnessed another disturbing event, sparking widespread anger. The security authorities managed to arrest a minibus driver accused of setting fire to his neighbor's body, "Kamel M. A. R" (58 years old), due to family disputes related to marriage ties. The incident took place in a village in the Akhmim district, where a violent altercation erupted between the two parties, culminating in the assailant attacking the victim and setting his body on fire using a flammable substance.

The victim suffered severe burns in multiple parts of his body, which required him to be transferred to the central hospital for treatment. The assailant, "Ashraf A. W. H." (43 years old), was apprehended by security authorities and confessed during investigations to committing the crime. He explained that the motive behind the attack was a family dispute related to marriage issues.

The public prosecution continues to investigate the case, and an official report has been filed with the necessary legal actions taken against the accused. This incident highlights the dangers of family tensions and their profound impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

Recent events in Sohag raise many questions about the causes behind these tragic incidents, shedding light on the importance of promoting community awareness regarding the need to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid violent escalation. These incidents also highlight the urgent need to strengthen security measures and activate the role of concerned authorities in confronting such actions that threaten the stability of society.
