Tragedy on the Regional Road: 9 Dead, 10 Injured in Horrific Minibus Collision
A violent crash between two minibuses on the Regional Road leaves 9 dead and 10 injured. Eyewitnesses describe a tragic scene and raise concerns over poor infrastructure.
The Regional Road near the Manshiyet Al-Qanater area in Giza witnessed a horrific accident in the past few hours, as two minibuses traveling in the same direction collided violently. The crash resulted in the death of 9 people and left 10 others with various injuries, all of whom were transferred to hospitals for urgent medical care.
One eyewitness described the incident, saying:
“I was driving home with a friend on the Regional Road when we suddenly noticed traffic coming to an abrupt stop. We slowed down and pulled over. As we got closer, we saw that two minibuses had collided while heading in the same direction. The scene was chaotic and terrifying.”
He continued:
“I still can’t determine exactly how the crash happened, especially since both vehicles were in the same lane. But we did notice a speeding tractor on the far-left side of the road, with its front wheel off the rim, which may have played a direct role in the collision.”

The witness added:
“The accident occurred between the Khatatba toll station and the exit leading to the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, about 3 kilometers from the village of Bani Salama. It was a heartbreaking sight—bodies were scattered on the ground, some severely mangled. I saw a young man breathe his last right in front of me. Among the victims were young children, including a girl no older than five, and men in their thirties.”
He went on to say:
“I’m a resident of Manshiyet Bani Salama, and the Regional Road runs right in front of my home. Unfortunately, accidents have become a daily occurrence here. We live in constant fear from the sound of frequent crashes. Even the nearby ambulance point is overwhelmed and unable to cope with the number of emergencies—it’s often called out multiple times a day to transport the injured and the deceased.”
He concluded by noting that the road has suffered from recurring issues for over nine months, including potholes and unfinished repairs, which have significantly increased the rate of accidents. He also mentioned that the victims of the recent crash were from Monufia Governorate, specifically from the village of Talia, and that both minibuses were operating on a passenger route serving that area.
