In a surprising statement carrying an implicit threat, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States possesses precise intelligence on the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, confirming that targeting him is not currently on the table. In a message posted on his official platform, Trump said: “We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding. He’s an easy target, but we won’t go after him now — at least not at this stage.” He added: “We don’t want to launch missiles that could hit civilians or U.S. troops, but our patience is running thin.”
These remarks came as tensions between Iran and Israel escalate, with reports indicating that Trump had previously halted an Israeli plan to assassinate Khamenei during the initial wave of military escalation between the two sides.
Meanwhile, Israel has intensified its rhetoric. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a direct warning to the Iranian Supreme Leader, cautioning that Tehran’s continued support for rocket attacks on Israel could lead Khamenei to suffer a fate similar to that of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
In the same context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated during an interview with a U.S. media outlet that eliminating Khamenei “could be a turning point in ending the current conflict between Iran and Israel,” marking an unprecedented escalation in political and military threats.
These developments come amid a sharp rise in mutual strikes and inflammatory rhetoric, sparking international concern over the potential expansion of the conflict into a full-scale regional confrontation.
