The security services at the Ministry of Interior have arrested a young man accused of harassing a Gulf-national pharmacist inside a well-known shopping mall in the Sheikh Zayed area of Giza Governorate, after he inappropriately touched her body while they were both using the escalator inside the mall.

The incident was reported after the victim went to the Sheikh Zayed Police Department and described the incident in detail, stating that she was shocked when the young man deliberately approached her and then touched sensitive parts of her body in a shocking and unacceptable manner. This caused her great discomfort and distress, prompting her to immediately take legal action against him.

Following the filing of the report, the investigation team moved to the scene and began carefully reviewing surveillance camera footage from inside the mall, which clearly captured the incident and confirmed the victim's account. The suspect’s identity was quickly established and he was arrested and taken to the police station. The Public Prosecution has begun investigating the accusations against him.
In a related incident, another case of harassment occurred in the Talbiya area on public transportation. The security services received a report that a street vendor had harassed two girls inside a public bus using a ping pong ball in an inappropriate and suggestive manner.

Eyewitnesses on the bus stated that the suspect was sitting near the girls and began using the ball in an offensive and disrespectful way, sparking outrage among passengers who immediately contacted emergency services. A police force promptly arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect—who turned out to be a street vendor—and confiscated the ball used in the incident. Legal action was taken against him.

These incidents come as part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to combat all forms of harassment and violence against women, and to address such behavior firmly to preserve public safety.
