Koshari Added to UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage List… A Popular Dish with Remarkable Health Benefits
UNESCO has included Egyptian Koshary on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity 2025, a nutritious vegetarian dish combining rich flavors and essential health benefits.
UNESCO has added the Egyptian dish "Koshary" to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity for 2025, announced during the governmental committee meetings in New Delhi. Koshary is a popular vegetarian dish made of rice, lentils, pasta, chickpeas, and vermicelli, topped with tomato sauce, fried onions, and garlic vinegar, providing both rich flavor and high nutritional value.
Koshary is a good source of plant-based protein from lentils and chickpeas and contains dietary fiber essential for digestive health, along with iron and folic acid to support blood circulation and cell functions. Tomato sauce provides vitamin C and lycopene with anti-inflammatory properties, while fried onions contain quercetin, an antioxidant that helps reduce inflammation.
It is a nutritionally balanced meal, combining carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats, offering sustained energy and satiety. Fiber from grains and lentils supports gut health and encourages the growth of beneficial bacteria. Its natural ingredients also help regulate blood sugar levels, making Koshary an ideal choice for a healthy diet.
Regular health screening is one of the most important steps to maintain good health and detect diseases early. The essential medical checkups for every age help in preventing complications and ensuring a healthier life.
Many people, after doing medical tests, receive their results and immediately start looking at numbers and unfamiliar terms like (High – Low – Normal) without fully understanding what they actually mean.
When dealing with medical services, many people come across different titles for doctors such as “Specialist” and “Consultant”, which can sometimes create confusion about what each title actually means and how they differ from each other.
Choosing the right time to visit a doctor is not a random decision. It can directly affect how quickly a condition is diagnosed and how effective the treatment will be. Many people delay visiting a doctor or go at the wrong time, which may lead to worsening symptoms or delayed care.
