Since the beginning of Ramadan, many people have wondered whether the reward for fasting is equal for everyone. Al-Azhar Fatwa Department clarified that fasting reward is not equal among people, but depends on the circumstances and challenges faced during the day, such as long fasting hours, extreme heat, or physically demanding work.
The department emphasized that sincere intention is the foundation for acceptance and greater reward. Those who fast during long days, in intense heat, or perform strenuous physical work may earn greater reward for enduring additional hardship, provided they do not seek the hardship itself, but aim to please Allah.
Al-Azhar also highlighted the importance of supplication during fasting, citing blessings for the 12th of Ramadan to seek ample provision and barakah in life, including:
-
“O Allah, grant me abundant lawful sustenance without hardship, and answer my prayers without rejection.”
-
“O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provisions over unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace over others.”
-
“O Remover of obstacles, O fulfiller of needs, fulfill my needs, relieve my distress, and grant me provision from unexpected sources.”
-
“O Allah, make my sustenance abundant and blessed, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.”
