New Aggressive Flu Strain Sweeps the UK With Strange Symptoms Including Bile Vomiting
A fast-spreading H3N2 influenza strain alarms UK doctors as cases surge and patients report unusual symptoms like bile vomiting, exhaustion, and muscle pain amid vaccine concerns.
The United Kingdom is witnessing growing alarm over a mutated and more aggressive influenza strain known as H3N2, which has caused a sharp increase in infections across hospitals and clinics nationwide.
According to medical experts, the virus has undergone multiple genetic mutations, making it significantly more infectious and capable of triggering severe symptoms, including acute body pain, persistent fatigue, sudden fever spikes, and unusual digestive disturbances.
One of the most alarming developments is the emergence of bile vomiting among patients — a symptom rarely linked to the flu — as some sufferers experience intense nausea and vomit on an empty stomach, releasing the yellowish bile fluid.
Dr. Simon Clarke, microbiology professor at the University of Reading, warned that the symptom may indicate a new effect of the virus on appetite and digestion. Meanwhile, Dr. Paul Hunter from the University of East Anglia clarified that so-called stomach flu is not a separate illness but rather part of influenza’s extended symptom profile.
Experts also cautioned that the condition could mimic other seasonal viruses such as norovirus and rotavirus, urging people to stay hydrated even when unable to retain fluids to avoid dehydration.
The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) issued an early alert after hospital admissions climbed to 3.8 per 100,000 people in one week — nearly triple the usual rate for this time of year — suggesting a fast and aggressive spread.
Scientists believe the strain has mutated seven times over the past summer, reducing current vaccine effectiveness, though vaccination remains key to minimizing severe symptoms and hospitalization risks.
Authorities have urged elderly citizens, pregnant women, and healthcare workers to receive flu and COVID-19 booster shots before winter peaks, warning that delays could strain hospital capacity.
Regular health screening is one of the most important steps to maintain good health and detect diseases early. The essential medical checkups for every age help in preventing complications and ensuring a healthier life.
Many people, after doing medical tests, receive their results and immediately start looking at numbers and unfamiliar terms like (High – Low – Normal) without fully understanding what they actually mean.
When dealing with medical services, many people come across different titles for doctors such as “Specialist” and “Consultant”, which can sometimes create confusion about what each title actually means and how they differ from each other.
Choosing the right time to visit a doctor is not a random decision. It can directly affect how quickly a condition is diagnosed and how effective the treatment will be. Many people delay visiting a doctor or go at the wrong time, which may lead to worsening symptoms or delayed care.
